'away from nothing' is a musical entity, vision, concept, and an idea that serves to encapsulate the creative energy and artistic efforts of a few like-minded but very different group of individuals. By expanding the horizons of its musical origins, 'away from nothing' specializes in and collaborates with many other art forms including film, photography, design, painting and poetry. Its purpose is to shed some light into darker realms and help heighten an individuals' awareness of the present moment.

'away from nothing' is a performing alt/indie/rock band from Fort Collins, Colorado. Singer/songwriter and guitarist Ryan Auker and bass player Andy Ahlberg have been playing music together since the mid-nineties in their early teen years. The music comes from a deep understanding of feelings and emotions pushing and pulling dynamically throughout each song. Melancholic at times yet energetic, the songs portray frustrations of an individual using distorted then clean guitar sounds. Their dissonant guitar notations and dark undertones seamlessly merge into lighter and brighter catchy melodies. With a repertoire consisting of hundreds if not thousands of unreleased original songs, this 'best band you've never heard of' is destined to satisfy. Recently in 2013, the band has recorded and released two new singles 'Changing' and 'Sane' that are sure to capture the attention of many more listening ears. -afn
