Thank You: Jesus Christ.

First off, I would like to apologize to everyone for not being able to release this song any earlier. This has been due to a publishing contract that officially ended October 8th 2016. I wanted to be able to get this song out in the right way that it deserves. Also, I wanted to thank everyone who helped this song come into its own. I wrote this song over a three year time period in which many people have helped make it what it is today. How the song came about is an entirely different book in and of itself…. The end of 2011 is when the song first came to me and when we first started practicing it in the band with our good friend and drummer Zach Kruk. Thanks Zach. We first played this song live in Ft. Collins at a FOCOMX show in April 2012 thanks to Greta Cornett who has been ever so helpful in getting our music out of the basement. Thank you Greta. As time went by and many more life changes took place, Andrew Ahlberg and I were seeking out a new drummer. My brother Geoffrey Deselms came to some practices at the end of 2013 and filled in temporarily. More importantly, he helped us find the heartbeat of this song, and it became a little closer to what it is now. Thank you Geoffrey. A few months before the actual recording took place at the Blasting Room Studios, we found ourselves practicing all of our material and refining this song with a very good friend and past drummer, Michael Gorham. Thank you Michael. I had in my mind at the time, that Michael was going to be the drummer to record this song along with another song, ‘Want it More’, in the studio. That turned out not being the case, as Michael and his family respectfully had moved to New York and schedules did not line up. I was really thinking at the time that we were not going to be able to go through with the recording production. I had then made a phone call that would soon change all of that, to Andrew Berlin, our good friend and recording engineer over the past 12 years, who has helped me make what I am hearing in my heart and mind tangible not only to my ears but to everyone else’s ears as well. I told him that we were without a drummer and that I did not think we were going to be able to go through with the recording session. I explained that I really didn’t know what to do about it. He began to tell me that he wanted to get us together with a drummer he knew for quite some time now, Stefan Runstrom. Thank you Andrew. We packed up all of our gear and headed over to Stefan’s house for a practice session. Just like that my confidence about the upcoming recording session was restored along with seeing Stefan’s undeniable talent behind the drums. I hope to play more music with you soon, Stefan! Thank you Stefan. We went into the studio April 21, 2014. I knew the song needed to have a string arrangement and Andrew Berlin and Stefan mentioned a violinist from Boulder they knew named Ian Short. We scheduled Ian to come in on the third day of the session. We then got news that he had actually missed the bus from Boulder to Ft. Collins and would not be able to make it into the studio…..(I’m laughing right now while typing this). Knowing that we needed him and his instrument no matter what, I asked Andrew Ahlberg if he would make the trip to Boulder to go pick Ian up. Andy reluctantly made the drive….It turned out however that Ian and Andy are what some would call two birds of a feather ;) and had a lot to talk about on the way back to the studio (I’m still laughing). The timing and energy somehow worked out perfectly when they both showed up. Words cannot explain the feeling Ian put into this song with his violin. Thank you Ian. Also, there was an underlying cello movement that came to me back when we were in preproduction, that I knew needed to be in the song. Andrew Berlin called cellist Amy Marie Morgan who just happened to be available on short days’ notice. She came in and played this movement along with her own beautiful takes to the song. Thank you Amy. I would especially like to thank Andrew Ahlberg for sticking through thick and thin throughout all of these years and of course, serving this song with his bass guitar. Again, thank you to all of the amazing people who helped this song come into fruition. I know I could write a lot more about this one single song and every person and experience that may have helped shape it. But I hope that this little rant gives people a mere glimpse of what it takes to write, record, and produce a song and how this song came to be. I will save the rest for another day… I think the beauty about music is that some things in this world and in our lives cannot be expressed by words alone and music is one of the ways that can help express what we are all so desperately trying to express sometimes. This is a song I wrote that is very near and dear to my heart and you can have it for free....because money does not define the worth or value of music. In other words, we don't make music to feed a bank account, but rather, we make it to feed our souls. However, contributions are encouraged and are very gratefully received and appreciated as they will be used to make more music. So please help share and spread this song like wildfire among your selves and into the world in this digital day of age and help us all so that we may continue to create, produce, and record more music that the world deserves to hear! On that note, I cannot wait to record more music with you all again soon. So please encourage your friends to share, buy, and stream this song, and more importantly, just enjoy listening to this piece of music!
Thank You.

Sincerely,

Ryan Cruse Auker

9/22/16- "Millenial, Gen Xr, Baby Boomer, Elite, Minority etc. etc. etc. Don't let some made up idiotic labels that were, once again, designed to cause division, define who you are as an individual. These terms only exist to generalize, stereotype, and feed egos....mans foolish effort to try to make sense of the world around him through his own feeble understanding. In other words- Don't drink the Kool-Aid. Be who GOD WANTS you to be, not who mans mindless afterthought DEEMS you to be." -Ryan Cruse and my foolish effort to try to make sense of the world. laugh out loud, smiley face...

This is simply unacceptable. So to raise awareness, I will do 22 push-ups every day for 22 days."

We've been tagged by Michael Gorham through Jason Corso and accepted the challenge! Bringing awareness to the cause is well worth it my friends!

So here's how it works. You film yourself each day on Facebook doing push ups for 22 days. Each day also nominate a friend. Today we nominate you!

10/22/15- This song among many others should have been on the 'So Far' EP. We used to have the lyrics posted on our Myspace account but we all know what happened to that....:) So it's on here now and hopefully we will all be able to hear it someday soon. But for now, enjoy this bit of poetry-

'What You See'
away from nothing
Ryan Cruse Auker,2005

It's a self addicting life
In the canvas that we hide
All the wisdom that you shared
Faded all out there somewhere
Gonna take another flight
On a different plane tonight
Coming down and I don't care
What is left of me to share
What you see
What you see
What you see in me i believe
I'm not me
I'm not me
I'm not me too lost to believe
Should've felt the world outside
Everything turned black and white
Will you tell the world i know?
I can't do this here anymore
Gonna take another flight
On a selfish trip I might
Cut me down and I don't care
What is left of me they're aware
What you see
What you see
What you see in me I believe
I'm not me
I'm not me
I'm not me too lost to believe
Too lost to believe....
Well I think too much and it feels like letting go
And I say too much and it feels that I should know
Well I think too much and I feel like letting go
And I've said too much and I feel that you should know
And I feel like letting go
I'm not me
I'm not me too lost to believe
What you see
What you see
What you see in me I believe
I'm not me.....
I'm not me too lost to believe.
